What Are You Thinking?!?!

How the hell did we come to this? There's still a long way to go in the Primaries and anything can happen but it seems that our choices in the Presidential election will be between Hillary/Bill Clinton and John McCain. Is this the best our Country can come up with, a choice between outright Socialists and the best friend the Liberals in Congress have in the GOP? What choice is that?

If McCain believes that the Liberal MSM, the moderates and independants that support him now are actually going to support him when it comes down to Hillary/Bill and him in the general election, he's crazier than he looks. They'll drop him like a hot rock and support the real Socialists that they always do.

I just can't understand Republicans supporting the man who gave us McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, The Gang of 14, The Keating Five, didn't support tax cuts and craps all over the Republican Party every chance he gets. If by some miracle he does become President, you can kiss any Conservative Supeme Court appointees, tax cuts and a border fence goodbye and say hello to amnesty for 12 million illegals. Under his administration, almost anything the Liberals want they'll get. He supports the Liberals now as a Senator, why does anyone think he'll do differently as President.

However, I don't believe in miracles, so IMHO get ready to start hearing "Madam President" if McCain gets the nomination.

All Snippy and I can say is:

P.S. Wondering why I keep saying Hillary/Bill?

Make no mistake, Bill is running for a third term via his "wife".

Mitt Romney as a Last Resort

With the news media playing up Hillary and McCain as the "front runners" it looks like we may have to hold our nose and root for Romney to get the nomination. Heaven forbid we end up with the only choice being between Clinton and McCain. They might as well be on the same ticket.

What it becomes now is who will do the least damage. I hate to vote for the lesser of two evils and we swore we wouldn't. If it is a case of McCain vs Clinton then we still won't vote for either of them. We can stay home or just write in a candidate.

However, if it is Romney vs Clinton or Obama I would go to the polls and vote for Romney. This nation needs to wake up and see that McCain is not the man for the job. Keating 5, the Gang of Fourteen, McCain/Feingold, McCain/Kennedy and the list could go on and on. Not to mention him during the POW/MIA hearings and his successful effort to stop our searching for MIA's and POW's in Vietnam against family wishes.

We've fought our fight for the nominee when we were supporting Fred Thompson. Now we have to wait to see what the rest of the country does.

Defining the Term in Contemporary Times ( and

The word evangelicalism often refers to a collection of religious beliefs, practices, and traditions typified by an emphasis on evangelism, and by what adherents call a "personal experience" of conversion (described in the Gospels by Jesus as being "born again"). This collection is historically recent (approximately 150 years), but is broad, and can be found among some Protestant Christians and some Evangelical Catholics.

How Many Evangelicals Are There?

One of the most difficult things to establish about evangelicals is a precise estimate of just how many of them there are in the United States. With so many different evangelical denominations, evangelical constituencies of varying sizes within historically evangelical "mainline" and even non-evangelical denominations (thousands upon thousands of independent churches) there is no single entity that can possibly serve as a representative gatekeeper for the nation's evangelicals.

The News Media says Evangelicals will vote for Huckabee?

That is tantamount to saying all blacks will vote for Obama and all Women will vote for Hillary. What if you are a black, female, evangelical, who ya gonna call?

I happen to be a white, female, born-again christian, and none of the above will get my vote.

The grouping of race, gender and religion is an easy headline and plays into peoples bigotry. As a people I believe we are much too complex to make such broad statements. The laziness of the main stream media is appalling. If they really reported they would have to look much deeper into America's psyche.

I am but one person. Born-again. Yes, after much soul searching, praying and studying I had an epiphany that all that the Bible was telling me was true, that Jesus is the Son of God, that he died on the cross for my sins (past and future) and that he did suffer for me. I came to know him in a personal way and though I remain a sinner I am saved by the Grace of God through Jesus. It's quite simple now to me and quite ordinary.

I was raised Catholic. I've long since given that up and I don't 'belong' to any denomination. I am born-again and I know that I know, that I know. I commune with God, (not as often as I should) on a one to one personal relationship. I know that he is always with me and when I am in his grace I can and do raise my hand in praise to heaven, it's just something that comes natural.

That is no reason to vote for Mike Huckabee.

I am a woman. I like being a woman. I think women are very complex creatures and are a good match for men.

That is no reason to vote for Hillary Clinton.

I am white so I have my choice of white candidates to choose from.

That's no reason NOT to vote for Obama.

How silly all this talk is of how a person will vote based on these factors. How about we start to use the one thing we all have, our mind. Educate yourself and pull your head out of the television long enough to find out what the issues of our country are and what actions will make things better for what you see as the way the country should be run.

We may not agree but I'd prefer the voting public be educated and not just vote because of what Oprah says, or Chuck Norris, or whether your a Baptist or a Mormon, a man a woman, black or white, veteran or not. Some things matter but not just on their face value.

We have a candidate who is a veteran and a POW.

That alone is no reason to vote for McCain.

The former mayor of New York is a candidate who's exemplary behaviour endeared him to us during 9/11.

That's no reason to vote for Giuliani.

We have a former Governor who happens to be a Mormon who "saved" the Olympics.

That's no reason to vote for Mitt Romney.

On the one hand it's sad that Americans vote in the minority, on the other hand, considering how so few people seem to understand politics or know what the three branches of government are or the difference between the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, it may be a good thing that the majority doesn't vote.

I work with H1b workers from India, Pakistan, China and even Vietnam, they are fascinated by our election process and we have wonderful discussions about it at work. They watch "Meet the Press", CNN, Fox News and though they have no voting privleges they are more informed and more interested than my American co-workers. What does that say about our country?

What it shows me is that it's obvious why we are in the mess that we are in. Too many American born citizens are full of hatred for their own country and I challenge them to explain why with intellegent discussion. They only know what they are being spoon fed by our liberal universities and by sound bites on television.

We are headed toward socialism and multiculturalism. We will become a third world country if we allow our faith and values to be crushed by this new wave of anti-Americanism.

We are a Christian nation, a capitalist society and a free country. I see us losing all three of those values and with this year's crop of presidential candidates I see no turning back. Not because of race, gender or religion but because of the candidates lack of values, their own personal greed and quest for power.

None of the above have our country's best interest in their quest for the Presidency. None of the above are running for office with a love or understanding of our founding fathers ideals.

This year, I will not choose the lesser of the evils.

It doesn't matter that we have a woman, a black, a preacher, a veteran and a Mormon or a Mayor running. I will pray and I will stay home.

A Statement from Fred Thompson

"Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people."

IMHO, with this statement the Conservative voice of the Republican Party has died. With Tancredo, Hunter and now Thompson out of the race, the Republican Party, by allowing Independents and Democrats to select their candidate in "Open Primaries" has managed to silence the Conservatives. All that is left for me now is to withhold my vote. I refuse to vote for another RINO or for a Democrat. I don’t need a candidate who is two degrees above pond scum telling me to vote for him because his opponent is one degree above pond scum. I'm tired of voting against someone rather than for someone.

For years the Republican Party has put up mediocre candidates and then counted on the Conservatives to get them elected by saying "vote for me otherwise the other side will win and it will be worse." Then they turn around and screw us by acting the same as the other side they "warned" us about, until the next election cycle. The Republican Party treats the Conservatives like the Democrats treat the Blacks. I am not going to play that game anymore. I'm taking my vote and money and going home.

For the first time since the late 60's, I'll be able to live in ignorant political bliss like 2/3 of this country does. I'll have time to catch up on my reading.

The New Democratic Party

Looks like it's gonna be official with this election, the Republican Party will be the new Democratic party. I guess some one had to fill the gap that was left when the old Democratic Party went Socialist.

There is no longer a major political party that represents me. I'm disappointed that Fred Thompson didn't win in South Carolina and am totally disgusted that John McKennedy did win. Didn't the Republicans get the message after the midterm elections? Stop trying to out democrat the Democrats!!

There's still hope though, it's going to depend on what Fred Thompson decides to do. All I know is that if Fred isn't the nominee, I'm sitting out the national election. No more holding my nose to vote against the Democrats, I want someone to vote for.

I worked hard for GWB and he's been the biggest political disappointment in my life. Until Fred announced he was going to run, I didn't see any candidate that espoused Conservative values and actually believed them, all the others change their values based on whom they're talking to. That's the Democrats strategy. I'm not going to vote for Democrat Lite anymore.

Time for The Conservative Party

The GOP is dead, or should be. It's been moving left of center and with the exception of Fred Dalton Thomas, the cadidates the GOP has put forth prove it.

How in the world someone like McCain can garner enough votes to come in first in a supposedly conservative state like South Carolina is more proof the party has lost its sense of direction.

Huckabee came in second, mind boggling. He isn't conservative, at least not on social or domestic policies which is really important.

McCain has been a disaster to conservative values during his tenure as a Senator. He is a life long politician, something we don't need more of in D.C.

Huckabee will be a disaster if elected. He is not, regardless of what he says this week, for stopping benefits to illegal aliens. If you think money is being spent outrageously now by our government just wait and see how that and our taxes skyrocket if Huckabee gets in.

So what does that leave us, Romney. If I had to I could stomach pulling the lever for him but only if I feared Hillary was about to get elected. Otherwise I just don't believe in Mitt's message and I may just write-in Fred Dalton Thompson and go home.

If the GOP loses and a democrat gets into office perhaps the GOP will start to take a harder look at itself and where it has been headed. Perhaps we shouldn't wait on them to have their eyes opened.

I know of many who no longer contribute to the RNC in any form or fashion but they still don't seem to be listening.

I believe we need a new Party. A Conservatie Party, if all the conservatives currently in office join, stating their displeasure with the direction of the RNC and begin leaving the GOP then we would instantly have credibility.

Perhaps it is just a pipe dream. Perhaps it is too late to bring this nation back to where we began, small government, free people.

Perhaps Fred will stay in the race and gain some momentum. Sam dear, maybe we can start to live like 2/3rds of the rest of America, watching American Idol and Oprah and oblivious to what is happening to this country. They seem happy.

Prosperity in South Carolina

Fred Thompson came to Prosperity South Carolina today to visit a local restaurant and share his values with the locals.

It was raining and cold yet the crowd filled the restaurant. A man from Kentucky said he drove five hundred miles to see him, another young man flew in from Los Angeles. The majority though was local and from the surrounding small towns.

Fred's wife and young children were there as well as an older son.

The crowd was enthusiastic and there was a lot of Amen's and hollers of support for what Fred was saying and lots of laughs. The crowd roared when Fred discussed his plan for illegals and mentioned how some candidates have lately changed their tune.

Many told of how they received push-poll calls leading up to the primary and they were quite angry about it, the audience believed it was from Huckabee.

Our waitress was a wonderful lady whose husband also served in Vietnam as did Sam. She said her son was a Major currently serving and told Sam he could salute her. LOL. When we left, she saluted him, it was quite cute.

Sam got to shake Fred's hand and Fred thank him for his service. We did not hang around as the rain was still coming down and we had a 30 mile drive to get home.

I want to add that the food at the lunch buffet was wonderful, good old fashioned southern home cooking. The restaurant was Stable Steakhouse in Prosperity. The town is just off the edge of Lake Murray and it was a wonderful drive except for the constant rain.

Last night it snowed, something I don't wish to see too much of here. The primary is only two days away and I hope we continue the momentum and Fred makes a good showing in South Carolina. Vote Fred Thomspson 08!

Converting McCain Voters to Thompson Voters: One At A Time

At the Publix in Lexington, SC this morning, Snippy and I became engaged in a conversation in the checkout line. Eventually, the lady asked us for whom we were going to vote. We both immediately answered Fred Thompson. She stated that he was one of her choices too, the other being John McCain. Seeing the look of distaste on our faces with her answer, she asked "What's wrong with McCain?"

First I stated, that as a veteran, I respected McCain's service but he's totally wrong on his politics. When she asked us to elaborate, all we said was "McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman and the Gang of 14. He sponsors Bills with the most liberal Democrats. He supported amnesty and voted against the Bush tax cuts. He is not a Conservative". We then went on to explain why we liked Fred. She said she hadn't really thought about those McCain Bills and was really thinking about McCain because of his veteran status. She said that we had helped her make up her mind, she's going for Fred.

Whether she eventually does or not, we gave her something to think about by pointing out the differences between Fred Thompson and John McCain. Sometimes that's all it takes, just a little push by an enthusiastic supporter. We may have gotten one more vote for Fred, for us, that makes it a good day. Don't be afraid to voice your opinion about your candidate, you may change a mind and that's what "Grassroots" is all about.

If there's one thing we learn from history, it's that we don't learn from history.

The Clear Conservative Choice

As the South Carolina Primary draws near we hope that Fred has had an impact on voters here. We are especially hopeful that those folks thinking about supporting John McCain will, after listening to Fred, realize that although John McCain is a war hero (and we are grateful for his service) Mr. McCain's political policies are wrong for a conservative America.

We cannot forget the Keating five incident or McCain/Feingold, McCain/Edwards, McCain/Kennedy and other bills he has supported with the liberal Democrats. We don't need an appeaser in the White House, we need a strong conservative that will work and fight for our values, not just try to "get along" with the liberal, democratic side that is tearing America apart from within.

No more compromises. No more RINOs.

Take Back America. Vote for Fred Thompson.

Electing a President

Are we going to allow the MSM to select our candidates for us? This is the way it seems to be lately. I refuse to buy into their Bravo Sierra.

I want a conservative candidate. I'm tired of picking the lesser of two evils. I thought we had that in GWB but was fooled.

I hope we can recover by electing Fred Thompson.

I would have liked a combination of Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter and someone who could get elected. The MSM only concentrates on RINO's and the Democrats.

I think there is a chance Fred can win in South Carolina and we can move forward to actually ignoring the press and nominating a candidate that can beat Hillary or Obama.

The candidate I'm working for now is Fred Thompson.

Please check out his website to listen and read for yourself.

The life of the GOP is at stake here. I won't vote for just any GOP candidate this time.If we lose then the GOP will have to rethink what their message and their actions have done to the party. That may be a good thing. All I know for sure is this time I won't select the lesser of two evils. I will choose my candidate even if I have to write him in.

This is turning into a Fred Thompson Blog but it really is more about us. It's just that time of year and so politics is what consumes our free time right now. We must remain a free America and therefore we must work to put conservatives in office.
