Where we're coming from
Just a little background.
Sam's father fought in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 in Poland. He was just a teenager. He was taken prisoner by the Germans. He was freed at the end of the war by the Brits. He joined the occupying forces and eventually came to the US as a displaced person due to his POW experience.
Sam's mother was a young girl in Germany during WWII. She was on the run as many German citizens were as their homes were being bombed out. During the occupation of Germany she met and married Sam's father. Love conquers all.
Sam joined the Army as soon as he got out of high school and served two tours in Vietnam. After coming home and after college he joined the National Guard, in Illinois and again later in life in Oregon.
Snippy's father served in WWII in the Army. Snippy's mother served in the Navy as a WAVE and was stationed at Ford Island with the first wave of WAVES that were allowed to leave the mainlaind to serve.
We have a strong military background that flavors a lot of what we believe in.
Our use of the word foxhole comes from our years of hosting the history thread at Free Republic called the Foxhole.
